Victims of Car Jamming

Published in:

The incidence of criminals using electronic devices to jam the remote locking systems on cars is increasing. But how do you avoid becoming a victim? And when does contractual responsibility override intent?

You may believe you can claim from your insurer under these circumstances, the reality is unless there are signs of forced or violent entry, most insurance policies won't pay claims for the theft of valuables from your vehicle.

Artinsure, however does not apply this philosophy.  Your intent, as an insured, to lock your valuable possessions safely in your vehicle, and your intent to secure which is foiled by criminals would not mean rejection of the claim.

The same would apply if you left your home and turned on your alarm and there was a theft claim and the alarm was not working. We would look at each claim on their merits and proceed from there as your intent was to lock and secure your home.

All clients should be responsible and lock valuable items away from sight to the best of their ability. Should you become another victim of crime, being insured with us, you can have the reassurance that we treat and settle each claim on its individual merit.
